Formula Atlantic racing in New Zealand has been a breeding ground for world-renowned talents in years gone by, with the likes of Jos Verstappen, Keke Rosberg, and Jacques Laffite having ventured to these shores to compete.
Many famed Kiwi drivers, including Craig Baird, Steve Millen and Supercars icon Greg Murphy, have also achieved success after spending time competing in the class.
Several overseas Atlantics have travelled to New Zealand for the 2025 Historic Grand Prix, joining their New Zealand-based counterparts for a weekend of on-track activity and off-track displays.
Following on from the success of the 2025 Taupo Historic GP, the Formula Atlantic grid will be awarded the rights to race on Sunday for the Taupo Historic GP Trophy.
Two weekends later, at the 70th New Zealand Grand Prix, Formula Atlantic will be recognised as a feature category of the weekend and the winner of the Sunday feature race will claim the inaugural Tim Miles Memorial Trophy.
The trophy commemorates the life of the late Tim Miles, a longstanding supporter of New Zealand motorsport and a proud South Island representative on the global stage of both business and motorsport.
