The Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Series, now into its 34th year, is a motorsport championship featuring MAZDA RX7's and RX8's competing across New Zealand for the North Island Championship, South Island Championship and New Zealand Championship.
Our history includes being the oldest Racing Series to become sanctioned (now accredited) by Motorsport NZ and we have remained one of the most innovative and cost-effective racing categories in NZ motorsport. To provide a drivers championship, we maintain a controlled rulebook that limits modifications to MAZDA RX7 and RX8 production cars that are eligible to compete. Many of NZ’s high profile National drivers have graduated from the Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Series.
The RX8 class was introduced in the 2014-2015 season and has grown to become the biggest and fastest-growing class in the North and South Island. With plenty of RX8's still on the road this class will continue to grow in future years.
The Pirelli Porsche racing championship is now rolling into its 37th successful season. The enduring popularity of the series is partly because drivers can choose from a wide range of models to suit individual budgets and their driving experience. No matter what that budget is the championship system is structured so that drivers from any class can win the outright series title.
One of the popular features is the unique support and service from several specialist companies who can deliver your car to each of the tracks and supply experienced techs to look after it all weekend. Drivers are also supported by our Pirelli tyre sponsor at each round who supply and fit tyres for us. In addition, there are several driving coaches available to help you develop and become more competitive.
The Pirelli Porsche series continues to attract a number of younger drivers who have an eye on the huge array of international Porsche racing available to them. Our series has standing starts, rather than rolling starts, which is perfect for drivers looking to get experience in that international standard used for Porsche Cup Car races everywhere.

Following the decision in 1975 to change from F5000 to Formula Pacific there was little opportunity for F5000’s to race.
A series continued in Australia and some cars were exported, a small number were converted to Can Am cars but the majority were retired into sheds and garages and rarely saw the light of day. Gone but not forgotten, and over the years there was increasing interest in re-establishing events that would allow the cars to be raced.
In 2003, the F5000 Association was formed and a series of races, the Tasman Cup Revival Series, was organised starting at Pukekohe then moving to Sandown and back for three further rounds in NZ after Christmas. The series is really about the cars and not about the drivers and has run continuously since 2003 with increasing numbers of cars and fans and is now a permanent feature in the Australasian motorsport calendar.
